A tactical asset allocation system for equities and gold that combines long exposure to large-cap stocks and GLD with a short-selling component on weak stocks. Allocation is driven by a volatility regime model based on VIX and SPY, plus a monthly retrained Random Forest classifier that predicts whether SPY will rise more than 2% over 21 days. Stock selection uses coarse and fine liquidity/market-cap filters (~150 most liquid US stocks), with weekly rebalancing of the short book based on trend-exhaustion scoring. Risk management includes multi-stage trailing stops on longs, ATR-based stop losses on shorts, a 5% portfolio-level trailing stop risk model, and margin-aware position sizing.
